In March, Cole Library and Lisbon Library will join to host a new series of classes offered by Linn County Master Gardeners. Four master gardeners will present a program on four consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
The programs on March 5, 19 and 26 will be in Room 108 on the first floor of the Cole Public Library located on the south side of the Cornell College campus, up Library Lane. The second program on March 12 will be in Heritage Hall at the Lisbon Public Library, 101 East Main St., Lisbon.
Who are the master gardeners? They are your friends and neighbors who have a passion for gardening. To become a master gardener, you must take forty hours of horticulture class training, complete a forty-hour internship, and continue to take courses and volunteer so that you are up to date on the latest best practices for gardeners in Iowa.
The classes are free and open to everyone in our communities and do not require pre-registration. The subjects and teachers are as follows:
March 5 – Herbs for the Butterflies, Linda Hinzman LCMG,
If you love to grow herbs and you love to support pollinators in your landscape, this class is for you! You will learn to match the herbs you grow to the butterflies you wish to attract. Both host plants and nectar plants will be discussed.
