Mount Vernon had five large group speech All-State nominations. Large Group Speech All-State festival is Saturday, Feb. 17, at Iowa State University.
Ensemble acting “We’re All Chickens in the End” starring Skye Rodman, Grant Tucker, Kevin Zehms, Cait O’Connor and Adam Zehms has a performing nomination. “We’re All Chickens in the End” will be performed at 1:02 p.m. in Center 4 in the Alumni Building Ballroom. Guest critic will be Brad Dell of Iowa State University.
Group improvisation “Female Fighters” starring Penelope Vig, Natalie Thuerauf and Bella Hasley has a performing nomination. The improv will perform at Center 7 in Scheman Rooms 220 through 240 at 2:40 p.m. Guest critic is Andrew Lopez, who has credits on television shows “The Bear” on FX on Hulu and “Platonic” on Apple Plus.
Television newscasting WRNG news starring Will Errington, Clare Nydegger, Jayce Pendergrass, Charlie Weldon and Nathan Conrad and the radio news performance of KDKA starring Dash Yamanishi, Sully Bowie Smith and Atticus Rood have performing nominations. WRNG News will perform at Center 6 in Scheman Rooms 260-262 at 9 a.m. and KDKA will perform at 9:27 a.m. Guest critic for both will be Alyx Sacks from KCCI.
Mount Vernon one-act play “Antigone” has a non-performing nomination. “Antigone” stars Charlie Krob, Cyrus Johnson, Emmett Jordan, Anna Vavricek, Colby Turley, Emara Perrault, Claire Jensen, Carrie Bybee, Emma Hoffman, Norah Weber, Ranger Hanna and Ashlynn Carter Shook.
