Libby Dix was named state champion in the 190 pound division Friday, Feb. 2, at the girls state wrestling tournament.
Dix had placed second in last year’s first annual state wrestling tournament when the sport was officially sanctioned by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union in the 170 pound division.
In an interview with the Sun after last season, Dix said that she was gunning for a first-place finish at the tournament in 2024, and she came through on that promise.
Kiersten Swart also had a successful tournament appearance for the Mount Vernon-Lisbon team, taking a third place medal this year in an overtime match. For the full story of girls wrestling, see page ( ).
