Henry Ervin Wright, 91, of Lisbon, formerly of Scranton, passed away, Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Committal Service with Military Honors: Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, Hastings Funeral Home, Jefferson. Burial: Wright Cemetery, rural Jefferson.
Henry was born Feb. 13, 1932, in Scranton, the son of William E. and Lois I. (Horning) Wright. He was united in marriage to Vera M. Ritter June 2, 1956, in Jefferson.
Henry and Vera farmed together in Scranton until 1970 when they moved to Dougherty and continued farming until retiring to Lisbon in 1994. Henry loved to fish and turkey hunt. He loved his friends and family, and he loved well. Above all, he was a great man of faith, who walked with the Lord and leaves a legacy of faith to his family.
Henry is survived by his daughters, Robbie Ann (David) Fleener and Lorrie Poland; grandchildren, Kyle (Sarah) Fleener, Krista (Steven) Drier, Joshua (Hannah) Poland, Jared (Ashley) Poland and Jason (Alli) Poland; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Brooks, Luke, Jonah and one on the way; brother, Eldon (Sharon) Wright, sister-in-law, Sharen Wright; and many nieces and nephews.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 2007, brother, Duane Wright, and a twin brother in infancy.
