Lisbon’s new library director will begin work in late January.
Elizabeth Hoover De Galvez was the unanimous choice by the Lisbon Library board for the full-time position, a 32 hours per week, $24 per hour position.
“The hiring committee was very impressed with her as a candidate,” said Rich Eskelsen, president of the library board. “She comes from the Des Moines Public Library system, and is well ingrained with the library system of the State of Iowa.”
Eskelsen said that after the interview with Hoover De Galvez, he was so excited for many of the ideas she saw for the library, that he woke up pumped the next morning to get started towards those goals.
“She is going to be a great fit for Lisbon’s library,” Eskelsen said.
City administrator Brandon Siggins said her first day will be sometime between now and early February, pending her communication with her current employer and what she needs to wrap up with the Des Moines Public Library.
Hoover De Galvez resides in North Liberty with her family and has been commuting to Des Moines for the week when working.
