A number of city services and businesses will be closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday Monday, Jan. 15.
The Mount Vernon council meeting slated for Jan. 15 will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 17, instead at 6:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon City Hall, due to the holiday and the caucuses to be held Monday, Jan. 15.
The City of Lisbon will be closed this year for MLK Day, Jan. 15. Garbage pick-up will be on the regular Thursday, Jan.18, schedule.
Mount Vernon Schools will have no school on Monday, Jan. 15, as it is a professional development day for teachers.
Most Linn County governmental offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 15 in observance of the holiday. Normal business hours will resume Tuesday, Jan. 16.
The following services will continue to operate:
• Juvenile Detention and Diversion Services
• Mental Health Access Center
• Linn County LIFTS will be running abbreviated routes with no rural service.
• The Sheriff’s Office will be closed; however, continuous operations will be available for routine and emergency responses. This includes the Patrol Division, the Communications Division, and the Correctional Center. In an emergency, always dial 911.
