Precinct locations have been announced for the 2024 Republican Caucuses to be held Jan. 15, 2024, throughout the state.
For Mount Vernon 1 and 2, the caucus location is Mount Vernon High School.
Franklin Township (which includes the town of Lisbon) caucus location will be Lisbon High School.
Caucuses will begin promptly at 7 p.m., so attendees are encouraged to arrive early to their caucus location.
A valid form of ID is required on caucus night, which includes Iowa voter identification, Iowa driver’s license, Iowa non-operator I.D., U.S. military I.D. or veteran I.D., U.S. Passport or tribal car/document.
Registration at precincts can be made the night of the caucus, but you also need to bring a proof of address with your form of identification.
Only registered Republicans can take part in the Republican caucus at their individual precincts, but registrations can be changed the night of the caucus.
Democratic caucusLocations for the Democratic caucus locations have not been announced, but Democrats can fill out a request for a presidential preference card by visiting iowademocrats.org/caucus.
The first part of the caucus for Democrats is filling out that presidential preference card and returning to the state by Feb. 19, 2024. Those preference cards will be mailed out beginning Jan. 12, 2024.
Only registered Iowa Democrats who are eligible to vote in the Nov. 5, 2024, election can participate in the caucus. Iowans must be registered as a Democrat by Feb. 19, 2024, and Iowans are only able to participate in one political party’s caucus.
The in-person precinct caucuses are when the Democratic Party will conduct traditional party business including electing unbound delegates and alternate delegates to county conventions, electing county central committee members and discussing platform resolutions that can be shared at county conventions. No Presidential preference will be taken at the in-person precinct caucuses in January.
The results of the mail-in Presidential preference cards will be released March 5, 2024.
