The Mount Vernon Mustangs placed second in the Class 3A state volleyball contest Thursday, Nov. 2, wrapping up a 35-5 season for the team overall. The Mustangs lost to Western Christian in a close scoring 3-1 matchup for both teams.
The Mustangs were able to best Davenport Assumption in the semifinal match in a 3-1 bout, beating the team who ended the Mustangs season last fall at the state volleyball tournament. They also beat Wahlert Catholic in the quarterfinals 3-0.
