Camryn CoryKindergarten teacher
Cory grew up in Washington State before moving to Iowa. She graduated from Clear Creek-Amana in 2017 and the University of Iowa in 2021.
Prior to teaching at Lisbon, Cory spent two years teaching fourth grade at Lone Tree and a school age teacher at Frog Hollow in North Liberty.
Her family resides in North Liberty and Marion area, and she and her fiancé currently live in Lisbon.
Outside of teaching, some of her favorite activities include reading, going for walks and house/car projects.
What do you love most about teaching? “Getting to create a passion for learning and working with others in my students,” Cory said.
What teacher influenced you growing up and what did you learn from them? “My seventh grade English teacher,” Cory said. “She helped me see that success isn’t handed to you, you have to work for it.”
Lillee McAtee Fourth grade teacher
McAtee grew up in Solon, graduating from Solon High school. She attended the University off Iowa majoring in elementary education.
McAtee still resides in Solon with her family, as well as her dog Ralphie and pet Pete. She has plenty of immediate and extended family in the Solon area as well.
This marks McAtee’s first year teaching.
Outside of teaching, McAtee loves traveling and visiting new places. She also grew up involved in music and the arts, so she loves going to concerts and shows. She is also an avid reality competition show fan, watching things like Survivor, Big Brother and others.
What do you love most about teaching? “What I love about teaching is helping students find their special niche, when it comes to school and learning,” McAtee said. “Education definitely isn’t one-size-fits-all, and I love helping students realize that they are valued as their own person in the classroom.”
What teacher influenced you growing up and what did you learn from them? “I am influenced by so many of my teachers,” McAtee said. “But the ones that stick out to me the most were the teachers that taught me it is okay to not be perfect and that you learn more from failing and trying again than from never messing up.”
Cassie Bowdre Middle school science
Bowdre grew up in Morning Sun, graduating from Mediapolis High School and then the University of Iowa. She has previously taught at the Cedar Rapids School District.
She currently resides in Lisbon.
Outside of teaching, some of her favorite activities include snowboarding and hiking.
What do you love most about teaching? “Building relationships, watching students pursue their passion and being a safe haven for students who need it,” Bodre said.
What teacher influenced you growing up and what did you learn from them? “My fourth grade teacher influenced me the most growing up,” Bowdre said. “She taught me to always keep going even when it was hard and to always try new things.”
Tori Glanzer K-6 music
Glanzer grew up in Custer, S.D., graduating from Custer High School. She earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees from South Dakota State University.
She currently resides in Iowa City with her husband, who is attending law school in Iowa City at the University of Iowa.
Outside of teaching, she enjoys traveling, hiking, running and working out.
This is her first year as a teacher, but she really enjoyed her student teaching experiences.
What do you love most about teaching? “I love watching my students get better every day, and I am grateful for the opportunity to leave a positive and lasting impact on them as well,” Glanzer said. “I am also so lucky to be able to share my love for music with them and to help them develop a passion for it as well.”
What teacher influenced you growing up and what did you learn from them? “My elementary music teacher influenced me,” Glanzer said. “She helped me shape my passion for music and she also taught me the importance of building solid connections with my students so I can push them to be their best.”
Sarah Campbell Third grade
Campbell is originally from Waverly, graduating from Waverly-Shell Rock High School and Wartburg College.
She now resides in Mount Vernon with her significant other, and a few cousins also reside in the area.
She has previously taught as a Kindergarten through second grade special ed teacher at New Hampton.
Outside of teaching, she enjoys any activity outdoors (but especially hiking), baking and spending time with her family and friends.
What do you love most about teaching? “Watching students grow in their learning, but also as humans,” Campbell said. “You truly feel like you are making a difference.”
What teacher influenced you growing up and what did you learn from them? My third grade teacher as well as my middle school teachers,” Campbell said. “They all believed in me and told me to follow my dreams and be my true self.”
Abbey ShultzKindergarten
Shultz is originally from Rochester, Minn., graduating from Lourdes High School. She got her undergraduate degree from Luther College.
She resides in Cedar Rapids with her husband, Preston.
Outside of teaching, she enjoys shopping, watching movies and coaching softball.
She previously taught as a reading interventionist at Lisbon.
What do you love most about teaching? “Creating relationships with the students I teach,” Shultz said.
What teacher influenced you growing up and what did you learn from them? “My first grade teacher,” Shultz said. “She taught me to be silly, work hard and make mistakes.”
Zach KolkerHigh school science
Kolker is originally from Mount Vernon, graduating from Mount Vernon High School and his undergraduate degree from Coe College. He currently resides in Mount Vernon with his fiancé, Katheryn, and has family around in this area.
He has previously student taught at Oak Ridge Elementary and Cedar Rapids Jefferson.
Outside of teaching, he enjoys swimming and playing video games.
What do you love most about teaching? “Being able to share my passion with students,” Kolker said.
What teacher influenced you growing up and what did you learn from them? “Mrs. McCollum and Mr. Timm influenced me growing up,” Kolker said. “The were aways passionate about what they taught.”
Marissa CranstonFirst grade
Cranston is originally from Mount Vernon, graduating from Mount Vernon High School. She later attended Kirkwood Community College and then University of Northern Iowa.
This will be her first year teaching.
She now resides in Mount Vernon with her fiancé, Ryan. She has a younger sister and her parents who still reside in the area.
Outside of teaching, she loves spending time with family and friends, playing and coaching volleyball. She is the freshman/sophomore coach of the volleyball team at Lisbon.
What do you love most about teaching? “The relationships built with students and being able to see students growth and their a-ha moments,” Cranston said.
What teacher influenced you growing up and what did you learn from them? “One of my elementary school teachers had the most impact on me,” Cranston said. “she taught me to never give up and the importance off advocating for myself.”
Nate HutchesonSpecial education
Hutcheson was originally from Marion. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School and then Western Michigan University.
He and his wife, Stephanie, and their newborn son, Nile, now reside in Lisbon.
Hutcheson previously taught seven years of physical education and health.
Outside of teaching, he loves basketball, weight lifting, outdoors and gardening.
What do you love most about teaching? “Helping kids find a passion,” Hutcheson said.
What teacher influenced you growing up and what did you learn from them? “My dad, Mark Hutcheson, was the teacher who had the greatest influence on me,” Hutcheson said. “Hard work and perseverance were the things I learned from him.”
Adam HinrichsenSixth grade math, science and social studies
Hinrichsen is originally from Anamosa, graduating from Anamosa High School and the University of Northern Iowa with his undergraduate degree.
He has previously taught sixth through eighth grade science.
He and his wife, Hanna, reside in Anamosa with daughters Adeline and Alice.
Outside of teaching, he loves farming, reading and watching football.
What do you love most about teaching? “Making connections with students and helping them accomplish their goals,” Hinrichsen said.
What teacher influenced you growing up and what did you learn from them? “My freshmen history teacher, Mr. Heiar,” Hinrichsen said. “His passion for education made his students want to work hard and invest in learning.”
Maddison HainesFirst grade
Haines is originally from Creston, graduating from Creston High School and Iowa State University.
Haines is entering her eighth year as a teacher, previously teaching for five years at Lenox Community School District and Bondurant School District.
She resides in Cascade with her significant other.
Outside of teaching, she enjoys being outdoors with activities like kayaking, fishing and biking, as well as listening to live music and watching or attending sporting events.
What do you love most about teaching? “Being an educator Is a very rewarding profession,” Haines said. “I enjoy building relationships and watching the growth of each individual student throughout the school year.”
What teacher influenced you growing up and what did you learn from them? “My second-grade teacher had a big impact on me growing up,” Haines said. “I remember the hands-on learning activities and the different projects I completed.”
Michelle BakerPreschool
Baker is originally from Marion. She graduated from Linn-Mar High School and University of Northern Iowa with a degree in early childhood education.
Baker previously student taught at Lisbon and at Prairie. During the summers, she was the kids camp director for the Cedar Rapids Country Club for the past two years.
She now resides in Solon with her husband, Dillon.
Outside of teaching, she enjoys reading, spending time outdoors and going for a walk with her dog Piper.
What do you love most about teaching? “Making connections with the kids and watching them grow,” Baker said.
What teacher influenced you growing up and what did you learn from them? “My fifth-grade teacher Mrs. Stadtmueller was my biggest influence,” Baker said. “She taught me that no matter how many times you struggle and fail, you need to keep going.”
