Lisbon activities director Brandon Horman said the Lisbon girls’ athletic teams will likely remain in Class 2A for this season.
Horman explained that girls’ activities in the state are split between five classes, while the boys are split in four classes for most sports. That means Lisbon’s number of students places them in the Class 2A in most girls’ sports (volleyball, basketball and softball), but the boys are not quite at that same population level for that class.
Those numbers are evaluated season by season by the athletic unions.
Football has more classes, when you consider the inclusion of eight-man football teams that differentiate from Class 1A and higher.
“It’s tricky for us, as we can have a conference that has a lot of Class 2A competitors, but isn’t as tough as some of the Class 1A competitors we might face,” Horman said.
The school has also switched over to Bound Athletics to help with scheduling and a lot of behind-the-scenes maintenance. Bound keeps track of needed physical and concussion forms/documents and helps coaches know who still needs to have those items completed. They previously used Our School for that, but with many in the conference moving to Bound, it made sense to transition there as well.
