The Lions added six more wins to their season in play this week, winning against North Cedar, Edgewood-Colesburg, Colfax Mingo and BLCUW. They had losses to Davenport Assumption and Urbandale in tournament play Friday and Saturday.
Monday, June 19Game one
Lisbon took the first game of a doubleheader to North Cedar 7-2 Monday, June 19.
Lisbon was first on the scoreboard with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Lions went on to tack on five more runs for the win, when North Cedar added two runs at the top of the seventh inning.
Ella Clark and Blair Baltes led in hits with two each. Ella Clark also pounded home two runs. Kaitlynn Hasselbusch, Addie Clark, Lillian Gaiser, Alexa Roos and Kali Nelson rounded out the scoring for the Lions.
Ryleigh Allgood was the winning pitcher, pitching all seven innings with five hits, two runs, two base on balls and six strikeouts.
Game two The Lions got first on the scoreboard and never looked back in a 14-2 win against North Cedar.
North Cedar’s runs came in the first and second inning, while Lisbon hammered home runs in the first, second, third and fourth inning.
Nelson provided the most hits with three, and she also took three trips around the bases. Ella Clark and Kaitlyn Hasselbusch each had two hits and two runs. Lillian Gaier rounded the bases three times, and Alexa Roos, Peyton Robinson, Allgood and Gabi Moehlman rounded out the scoring.
Addi Petersen was the winning pitcher for the Lions, pitching three innings with two hits, two runs, one base on balls and four strikeouts.
Wednesday, June 21 Game one
Lisbon kept the hits rolling into their showdown with Edgewood Colesburg Wednesday, June 21, when they took a 13-1 win.
Edgewood Colesburg’s solo run came in the fourth inning of the came, while Lisbon had runs in the first, third, sixth and seventh inning.
Robinson, Ella Clark and Addie Clark had two hits each in the win. Petersen, Nelson, Ella Clark, Hasselbusch and Roos each had two runs in the game. Robinson, Addie Clark and Gaiser rounded out the scoring.
Allgood took the win, pitching six innings with one hit, one run and nine strikeouts.
Game two
The Lions also took the nightcap, 8-1.
Edgewood-Colesburg’s single run came in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Robinson led the Lions with hits with three. Ella Clark and Addie Clark provided two each. Robinson, Kamryn Kahl and Gaiser rounded the bases twice for the Lions, with Hasselbusch and Addie Clark rounding out the scoring.
Addie Petersen took the win, pitching four innings with two hits, one run, two base on balls and three strikeouts.
Friday, June 23 Game one
The Lions’ luck ran out in a face-off against Davenport Assumption, where Assumption blanked the Lions 7-0.
It wasn’t a hitless game, as Robinson, Petersen, Nelson, Baltes and Addie Clark all got on base.
Allgood and Petersen pitched in the loss. Petersen pitched two innings with five hits, three runs, and two strikeouts, while Allgood pitched four innings with four hits, four runs, one base on balls and three strikeouts.
Game two The Lions bounced back with a 6-1 win over Colfax-Mingo.
Robinson was the top scorer, rounding the bases twice. The Lions also had runs from Nelson, Hasselbusch, Addie Clark and Roos.
Allgood was the winning pitcher, with one hit, one run, four base on balls and nine strikeouts.
Saturday, June 24Game one
Lisbon took a 12-4 loss to Urbandale Saturday, June 24.
The Lions four runs all came at the top of the fourth inning, but it wasn’t enough to overpower Urbandale.
Hasselbusch had the most hits with two for the Lions. Ella Clark, Petersen, Gaiser and Roos all rounded the plates once.
Allgood and Petersen pitched in the loss. Allgood ahd nine hits, five runs and one base on balls, while Petersen had four hits, seven runs, two base on balls and two strikeouts.
Game two The Lions only needed three innings to beat BLCUW, going 21-3.
BCLUW’s runs came at the top of the first inning, while Lisbon’s runs came heavy in the second and third inning.
Robinson led off the scoring with four hits and four runs. Ella Clark had three runs.
Kahl, Nelson, Ella Clark, Allgood and Petersen all had two tuns each. Hasselbusch, Gaiser, Roos and Sarah Dietsch rounded out the scoring with one run each.
Petersen was the winning pitcher, pitching four innings for the Lions. She had two runs, three hits, three base on balls and two strikeouts.
