In conjunction with the Museum’s newest exhibition, Work and Society in the 1930s, the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art is collecting food to donate to the Linn Community Food Bank. “Food insecurity was a major issue during the 1930s, and we saw the occasion of this exhibition as an opportunity to help address this ongoing problem,” says Executive Director Sean Ulmer. “Food insecurity, climate change, and labor issues were all significant challenges during the Depression and artists addressed those realities in their work. Those issues remain with us today, which is one of the reasons we organized this exhibition from a Midwest private collection.”
If you would like to drop off an item at the CRMA for the Food Bank, preferred donations include canned goods, dry macaroni and cheese, peanut butter in plastic containers, dry pasta, pasta sauce in cans, and taco shells and seasoning. The collection box is located in the Carnegie Wing of the Museum and is available during regular Museum hours. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide for those less fortunate in our community.
