The Mount Vernon varsity baseball squad was back at it Friday, May 26, as they hosted — and defeated — the visiting Regina Catholic Regals 8-4.
It was a welcome reprieve from the last four games the Mustangs had played, including a doubleheader loss to Solon earlier in the week, and improved the team’s record to 2-4.
Colin Bentley had one of his team’s most active bats, producing three hits, including a double and an RBI. Bentley additionally stole a base.
“Colin Bentley continued his red-hot start in the batter’s box,” said Mustangs head coach Charles Chatman.
Freshman Michael Ryan scored two of his teammates on a double, going on to score himself, as well.
Ryne Moeller had two hits and two RBIs.
Maddox Rollinger oversaw the win on the mound, pitching four innings, and striking out four.
Rollinger, Coach Chatman said, “had a great night.”
Mason Hartman had a successful stint on the mound himself, pitching three innings and fanning five.
