Lester Buresh Family Wellness Community Center will be kicking off a series of programming for adults this winter.
A kick-off event will be held Thursday, Jan. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food, tours of the facility and a schedule of events will be presented during the kick-off event.
“We’ve seen a nice influx of adults visiting the Lester Buresh Center over the past year, and this is a way to provide programming for all ages,” said Matt Siders, Mount Vernon parks and recreation director. “It’s a way to give people more than one purpose to visit our building on a given day as well.”
Beginning Thursday, Jan. 19, the LBC will feature a guest speaker presenting on a topic at 1 p.m.
“We have guest speakers lined up from Jan. 19 through March 30,” Siders said.
Monday’s programming will be a chance for adults to learn a new game or activity. Those sessions run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“We could hold sessions on games that are active, like pickleball or shuffleboard, or activities that are more passive, like learning how to play games like euchre or a new board game,” Siders said.
The Thursday sessions with guest speakers will be offered free of charge for the entire community. The Monday sessions will be free to members of the LBC or available via a daily pass.
