The Lisbon varsity girls basketball team improved to 5-4 after a win on their home court Tuesday, Dec. 20.
The Lions tamed the North Cedar Knights by a score of 52-22.
The home team had a slight 19-12 lead at the half before outscoring their opponents 33-10 in the second half of the contest.
Peyton Robinson led the offensive effort for the Lions, leading both teams by putting up 16 points and nabbing 14 rebounds.
Chloe Clausen scored 11 points to go along with five rebounds and a steal.
Kali Nelson added eight points and two assists to the team effort.
“North Cedar came out very solid and worked very hard, and we used our strengths to our advantage to take on the challenge that we knew they would present,” said Lions head coach Diamond Ruth.
“We pressured their guards early and maintained that throughout the game, which allowed us to put them in bad positions and score off of it. We have been working hard on speeding teams up to make it easier for us, and that has been paying off,” Ruth said.
The conference win placed the Lions in third place in the Tri-Rivers East standings.
“It was a great end to the first half of the season, and we are very much looking forward to what 2023 will bring for Lisbon girls basketball,” said Coach Ruth.
