Elementary and high school performances have been rolling out in the last week before the Christmas holiday.
Monday, Dec. 12, saw the return of Washington Elementary’s holiday concert, the first in more than 30 years. Lisbon’s fourth through sixth grade winter concerts were also heldd that evening.
Traffic to the school complex was backed up to Business 30 as people tried to find a space to park in the school complex, and the auditorium had standing room only for the performances of kindergarten through second graders for that evening.
Director Sophie Walker noted attendance had broken a previous record for the Mount Vernon Performing Arts Center and overflow seating was held in the lobby for those who needed seating.
Thursday saw the Lisbon elementary school concerts for first through third graders and Mount Vernon’s third and fourth graders performing.
Sunday was the Mount Vernon High School choir, concert band, jazz band and Mount Vernon Orchestra holiday concerts.
