The Lisbon girls varsity basketball team picked up a win and a loss last week, hosting the Calamus-Wheatland Warriors and falling short at 40-33 before defeating Easton Valley at Easton Valley and earning themselves a 4-4 overall record.
Tuesday, Dec. 13The Lions started the week with a hosting gig, taking on the Calamus-Wheatland Warriors, falling just short at 40-33.
Lisbon jumped out to a convincing lead in the matchup, scoring 15 points in the first quarter to Cal-Wheat’s seven.
The teams went into halftime with the Lions leading the Warriors 20-15.
The third quarter was the reverse of the opening period, with Cal-Wheat putting up 15 points to the home team’s seven.
The Warriors entered the fourth quarter up 30-27, and wouldn’t relinquish their lead again. Cal-Wheat racked up 10 more points in the fourth, while the Lions could muster four.
Kali Nelson led the offense for the Lions, putting up 20 points to go along with an assist and a rebound.
Addy Happel added seven points to the effort, along with pulling in six boards and two steals.
Friday, Dec. 16 The squad broke even for the week and for the season with a 42-37 win at Easton Valley making their record 4-4 overall.
Chloe Clausen, Kali Nelson, and Peyton Robinson scored 11, 10, and nine points respectively. Robinson led the team in rebounds with seven, while Clausen nabbed five. Nelson added four assists to the effort.
The win over the River Hawks rose the Lions higher in the Tri-Rivers East standings, as they currently sit at third behind rivals Marquette Catholic and Calamus-Wheatland, the latter of which beat the team a few days prior.
