The Christmas holiday has arrived and, with it, a number of closures and impacted hours for area businesses and services.
The City of Mount Vernon offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 26, in observance of the Christmas holiday. Mount Vernon City Hall will also be closed Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, in observance of the New Year’s holiday. The Mount Vernon City Council set the first meeting of the New Year for Wednesday, Jan. 4, with a location of Mount Vernon City Hall.
Lisbon City Hall will also be closed Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 26, for the Christmas holiday. Lisbon City Hall will also be closed Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, for the New Year holiday.
There will be no impact to garbage service for either Lisbon or Mount Vernon for the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.
Lisbon Library will be closed December 24 and December 26 for the Christmas holiday, and Saturday, Dec. 31 and Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, for the New Year’s Holiday.
Cole Library will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, for the holiday break. Today (Thursday, Dec. 22) is the last day to check out physical materials ahead of the holiday break.
Linn County Solid Waste agency will be closed Saturday, Dec. 24, and Monday, Dec. 26, due to the Christmas holidays and will be open 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 31, by appointment only. The location will be closed Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, in honor of New Year’s Day.
Mount Vernon Schools is on winter break from Wednesday, Dec. 21 through Monday, Jan. 2, 2023. Students return to school Tuesday, Jan. 3. Mount Vernon eighth grade through seniors will return to the J-Term schedule.
Lisbon Schools’ winter break is Friday, Dec. 23, through Monday, Jan. 2, 2023.
Linn County governmental offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 23; Monday, Dec. 26; Friday, Dec. 30; and Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
The following services will continue to operate:
• Juvenile Detention and Diversion Services
• Mental Health Access Center
• Linn County LIFTS will be running reduced routes on Dec. 23 and Dec. 30.
• The Sheriff’s Office will be closed; however, continuous operations will be available for routine and emergency responses. This includes the Patrol Division, Communications Division and the Correctional Center. In an emergency, always dial 911.
