A number of Capital Improvement Plan projects planned in this year’s fiscal year will be moving to the 2024 fiscal year.
City administrator Chris Nosbisch said the reconstruction of Business 30 estimated at $250,000 has been put on hold. The project had the budget increased by roughly $150,000 due to post COVID-19 pricing.
“We’ve seen bids for this project come in between $475,000 and $500,000,” Nosbisch said.
The Candlestick Drive and Palisades Road projects are expected for a January or February 2023 bid.
Eighth Street and 10th Street resurfacing projects were moved to fiscal year 2024.
In parks and trails budget, the Stoner Park development will be moved to fiscal year 2024.
Improvements to Davis Park concessions and lighting are expected to be completed this summer, so that project will bridge the two fiscal years.
On the water projects, the upgrade to radio read water meters has been moved to the next fiscal year. The project will use American Rescue Plan funding and Nosbisch expects the project to stretch over two fiscal years.
The city is applying for a new water main for Fifth Avenue, to be bid in spring 2023.
For wastewater/sanitary sewer projects, Phase II of improvements to the wastewater treatment plant will most likely be completed in fiscal year 2025. It was included on the CIP to remind council that it is still needed work.
Nosbisch said that there will most likely need to be a vehicle replacement for the police department fleet this year, and two vehicles for public works.
The improvements to the police department building have been awarded, with construction slated to begin this winter. As well, the public works facility at Bryant for cold storage has been bid and is moving forward.
The generator at Lester Buresh Family Community Wellness Center will be rebid in the spring. That was an improvement noted as a necessity during the derecho, as the center could be used as an additional emergency shelter.
Nosbisch said an updated CIP for the fiscal year 2024 will be presented in January, but this was an update on the current projects.
