LINN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board met in session at the Linn County Jean Oxley Public Service Center. Present: Chairperson Rogers and Supervisor Walker. Absent: Vice Chairperson Zumbach (personal business). Board members voting “AYE” unless otherwise noted.
Chairperson Rogers called the meeting to order.
Motion by Rogers, seconded by Walker to receive and place on file the Linn County Annual Urban Renewal Report for Fiscal Year 2022.
The Board met to review and discuss the following FY 2024 budgets. Present: Dawn Jindrich, Finance Dir., Sara Bearrows, Budget Dir. and Carter Baldwin, LIFTS Dir.
LIFTS – The proposed appropriation is over the Board’s guidelines by $34,351.
Baldwin presented a power point of his budget including staffing (the elimination of the Mobility Coordinator position), increases in fuel/parts/tires/lubricants, bus replacement, ridership and challenges.
Motion by Rogers, seconded by Walker to approve LIFTS FY 24 appropriations in the amount of $2,140,866 and revenues in the amount of $1,219,296.
Supervisor Walker stated that he will soon be moving off the Board, LIFTS has always been indispensable to the mission of Linn County. There have been a few occasions where LIFTS went above and beyond and served the county in incredible ways particularly in marginalized communities. He encouraged Baldwin to look for those opportunities, not just in perceived crisis but those communities that are in a state of perpetual crises. There are always ample opportunities for LIFTS to be made available. He tried his very best to be a voice for the refugee communities and he encouraged Baldwin to keep that on his mind as he moves forward in his position.
