On Saturday, Dec. 3, the 2022-23 archery season began with the Mustang Archery team making a short trip to the Marion Archer Bullseye and 3D Tournament. The Mustang archers have been working hard the last few weeks preparing for their first tournament, and it showed. Starting the season off in a high note were Natalie Nederhiser and Walker Bilden. They each shot a rare perfect 50 round. This Saturday the Mustang Archery team will stay in the area for the Prairie Archery Bullseye and 3D Tournament.
Marion Bullseye Tournament results:At the bullseye team level, the elementary school team did not participate as a full team as only the Mustang Archers fifth graders competed. The middle school team had a great tournament and finished in first place with a score of 3036. Leah Leonard finished in sixth place for the middle school girls and Landon Johanningmeier finished sixth for the middle school boys. The high school team placed fourth with a score of 3169. Natalie Nederhiser finished in first place for this high school girls with a personal best score of 289!
Marion 3D results: With no elementary team shooting Saturday, there were some great individual performances. Finn Plattner shot a 196 to start the year strong. The middle school team finished in third place; Weston Haskell led the way in first place with a score of 265. Jake Shady finished in fourth place and Brinson Grenis’ personal best score of 251 secured fifth place. The high school team had a great start to the season and finished in second place.
