Mount Vernon Bank & Trust has announced two promotions and the naming of a longtime employee as a director.
John Brehm has been promoted to vice president and Mollie Fisher has been promoted to assistant cashier at this month’s board of directors meeting. Senior vice president Justin Dix has been named a director, serving on the bank board.
Brehm was hired as a credit administration officer in 2014 after working two years in finance in Kansas City, Mo. A native of Rickardsville, Brehm is a 2012 University of Northern Iowa business school graduate, and has held the title of assistant vice president at the bank since 2018. In 2021, he transitioned from the loan department to leading the bank’s Data Processing/Operations unit. He was a key player in recent technological bank upgrades, including the bank’s core processing conversion. John and his wife, Stephanie, reside in Mount Vernon, where they stay busy raising two children.
Fisher, a veteran Cedar County area banker, began in the bank’s loan administration department nearly three years ago. A Tipton native, Fisher began her banking career in 1991, holding various roles with Community State Bank (now known as Fidelity Bank & Trust), where she was an officer of the bank. Fisher has been instrumental over the past couple years in processing several million dollars of secondary market mortgage loan files, along with leading improvements in the bank’s overall lending processes and communications. Mollie and her husband, Kevin, live on a farm near Mechanicsville and enjoy spending time with their four grown children and seven grandchildren.
Dix, the bank’s longtime commercial and agribusiness lender, was named to the Mount Vernon Bank and Trust Company board of directors in the third quarter of this year. A lifelong resident of Mount Vernon, Dix graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1997 and Cornell College in 2001. Over the past 21 years, he has steadily climbed the community banking ladder and is widely recognized in area business circles as the leading lender in the Mount Vernon-Lisbon area market, as evidenced by the bank’s consistent growth and high performing loan portfolio. Justin and his wife, Cara, live west of Mount Vernon where they enjoy working on their small farm and raising their five children.
