Lisbon approves Linn County Building Division to do rental property inspections
The City of Lisbon has approved the Linn County Building Division to serve as the entity responsible for rental property inspections.
Previously, the council has relied on public health commission to complete inspections, but county health does not have enforcement authority for any violations.
Lisbon City administrator Brandon Siggins said the city attorney has reviewed the 28E agreement and forwarded it to Linn County for any changes they see need to be made.
Luke Maloney with Linn County Building Division said that the division is excited to be rolling this program out to the communities within Linn County.
“We’re definitely geared more towards enforcement on any violations,” Maloney said.
Maloney said the program is beginning mainly in the incorporated cities in the county as their focus.
Maloney said four of the cities in the county have approved Linn County Building Division to conduct rental inspections. They hired an inspector at the end of July and are looking forward to conducting rental inspections in the future.
“All eight communities have shared an interest in the program,” Maloney said.
