When people think of libraries, books come to mind. But another type of reading material we offer are magazines. Each year in September we review the circulation statistics of our magazine offerings. We also look at what magazines are available, the interests in our community, and the trends of book choices. Then we fine tune our magazine collection. This year we are offering five new titles that I hope you will enjoy:
• Family Handyman
• HGTV Magazine
• Kiplinger’s Personal Finance
• Men’s Health
• Outside Magazine
Other magazine titles include: American Patchwork and Quilting; Better Homes and Gardens; Car and Driver; Cook’s Country; Country Living; Horticulture; Interweave Knits; The Iowan; Magnolia; Mary Jane’s Farm; Midwest Living; Mother Earth News; Old House Journal; Our Iowa; Piecework; Prevention; Real Simple; Runner’s World and Smithsonian.
These titles are located in the Browsing Room on the library’s first floor.
Magazines are also available on BRIDGES, located in our website resources, as a special collection. Unlike books they have no wait lists or holds, do not count towards checkout limits, and provide readers the option to renew their selections. So in house or online enjoy magazines from Cole Library.
