The Lisbon Lions varsity volleyball squad still firmly sits atop the Tri-Rivers East standings, with the team now at 29-2 with wins last week over Regina Catholic at home and Marquette Catholic on the road.
Tuesday, Sept. 27The Lions hosted the Regina Catholic Regals, where Ava Czarnecki was recognized before the game for having recorded her 500th kill in the South Tama Invitational the Saturday before.
The home team struggled against the visiting Regals in the first set, losing 25-18, but went on to win 3-1.
Kali Nelson helped guide the team to victory with 28 assists, while Peyton Robinson posted 14 kills, 22 digs, and four ace serves.
Jaime McFarlane chipped in with four blocks.
Thursday, Sept. 29 The Lions had less trouble with Marquette Catholic, easily defeating the home team in three sets, 25-12, 25-9, and 25-8.
Senior Alissa Gaiser had three big blocks for the team, while Addy Happel posted 14 digs.
