The Lisbon Lions varsity football squad lost 14-0 on their home field last Friday against the Alburnett Pirates.
The Pirates struck first in the game with 7:05 to go in the first quarter, as Mason Neighbor, a senior, threw a complete pass to Payton Baker, a junio r, who carried it for seven yards to the endzone to put the team up 6-0. Sam Severson split the uprights tov make it 7-0.
Neither team scored in the second quarter. Alburnett got on the board once again in the third, with 8:07 remaining. Neighbor handed off to senior Carson Klostermann on third and one, and Klostermann carried it across the goal line for a 16 yard touchdown. Severson again tacked on an extra point, and the Pirates were now up 14-0, the game’s final score.
Cohen Kamaus helmed the offense for the Lions, throwing for 53 yards and rushing for 61 yards. Luke Czarnecki had five catches for 30 yards.
Ben Morningstar provided seven and a half tackles in the loss.
The Lions will take on the 3-0 Columbus Wildcats on the road Friday, Sept. 16 with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
