Acquisition International Magazine has announced the winners of the 2022 Influential Businesswoman Awards programme, including local artist Denise Murphy.
While there is still work to be done as far as gender equality goes, recognizing influential women, especially in male-dominated fields, is a good step forward. The Influential Businesswoman Awards sole objective is to encourage and recognize those who are driving for greater change in their industries.
Awards Coordinator Jazmin Collins took a moment to comment about the success of the winners.
“To all our winners, I offer my sincere congratulations and we wish you luck for the future,” Collins said. “It has been a pleasure to host this program and recognize those influential businesswomen who are shaping their industries and helping to reshape the business landscape.”
Acquisition International prides itself on the validity of its awards and winners. The awards are given solely on merit and are awarded to commend those most deserving for their ingenuity and hard work, distinguishing them from their competitors and proving them worthy of recognition.
Murphy was recognized as the Best art Gallery Business Owner in the Midwest USA.
According to her write-up, Murphy owns Mount Vernon Creates.
“The MVC event centre is available to book for up to 100 people and provides the perfect setting for weddings, receptions, graduations, reunions, bridal and baby showers, and other special events. Once an event is booked, Denise will work with local partners to provide food and beverages, bridal needs, and decorations or clients can bring in their own. Additionally, the venue hosts a yearly bridal fair, as well as a Portrayal of Mount Vernon art exhibit which is open to all artists, and other community events such as the MVHS (Mount Vernon High School) art show.”
“About a year after opening the event center, the pandemic closed many things down and definitely slowed all businesses. Denise comments, “It was not ideal having an event center sitting vacant during this time. Many days, there was a feeling of being overwhelmed about how to make this work.” However, she tried to make the best of the situation, using FaceTime and other online avenues to get in touch with clients – but this wasn’t very helpful in selling art, as understandably, clients like to see what they are buying in person.
With regards to Denise’s personal plans, she is very focused on her own art. She says, “It was on the backburner for many years with career and family. Now that my family has grown, I have been finding more time to produce art. I have been looking for shows in the region to highlight some of my pieces as well as online portfolio work.”
