More than 70 people attended the Laid Back Band concert Friday, June 24, at First Street Community Center lawn. The concert was provided by the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council (MVAAC).
On Wednesday, July 6, a free event titled “Mount Vernon-Lisbon & ME” will feature local storytellers including the Mount Vernon-Lisbon chief of police, an immigrant from El Salvador and the Lisbon library director. Music by the Mississippi String Band is also on the program. Music starts at 5:30 p.m. with storytelling beginning at 6 p.m. on the front lawn of the First Street Community Center, 221 First Street, Mount Vernon.
Bring lawn chairs and coolers. In case of rain, the event will move indoors to the FSCC theatre.
The program, which kicks off Mount Vernon Heritage Days, is also sponsored by the MVAAC. For more information about MVAAC, go to www.mvaac.org
