Cole Library patrons had an opportunity to make art with squirt guns Wednesday, June 22.
The event was part of the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math activities for the Summer Reading program.
Youths picked one squirt gun with watercolor paint and sprayed at a piece of watercolor paper. If they wanted another color, they were able to grab a different color and splash that on their canvas as well.
While the artists were waiting for their chance to spray paint on canvas, they also had the opportunity to paint a canvas in the library with water color paints as well.
Wednesday workshops are held at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. each Wednesday.
Pre-registration is required by emailing [email protected] or by calling 319-895-5940.
Remaining sessions include Twirligigs July 6, Wind chimes July 13, Tie Dye (bring a t-shirt or cotton clothing item to die), and collage art event with Michael Albert July 27. The collage art event will stretch for two hours for 40 youths.
The summer reading program will conclude this year with a visit from Blank Park Zoo Wednesday, Aug. 3. The time for that event will be determined closer to the event.
