The Mount Vernon-Lisbon boys’ soccer squad has come to the end of the line.
The team hosted Marion — first in the WaMaC-East — Tuesday, May 17, falling short 4-0, before being shut out in first round action two days later by Independence.
Tuesday, May 17 The Mustangs suffered their first loss of the week when hosting the Marion Wolves.
Marion chipped away slowly at their hosts, scoring two goals in the first half, and two more in the second. Goalie Aden Grudzinski had five saves in the effort.
Thursday, May 19
The team met their Waterloo two nights later, also at home, to the Independence Mustangs. Independence slipped by their hosts with one goal in the first half. The game was the first round of 2A post season action.
Aden Grudzinski, the team’s goalie, again finished the game with five saves.
The loss brought the MV-L soccer season to an end with a 6-11 record.
