The Mount Vernon varsity boys track team took part in the Lisbon 2022 Opener Tuesday, Apr. 11.
Lisbon placed first, but the Mustangs took the number two spot, with nearly double the points of the third place team, Waco.
Mount Vernon seniors Carson Sansenbach and Leo Appleton each brought up first place medals for their team.
The 4×400 meter relay team of Jensen Meeker, Zach Fall, Owen Brase, and Brady Erickson took first place in the meet with a time of 3:29.04, which for now is the second best time in Class 3A in the state.
“It was a great meet for us,” said Mustangs head coach Ryan Whitman.
“The guys ran really well, and Coach Frazier and I were super hyped after the meet. It was also just nice to get back on the track and compete against some other teams,” Whitman said.
