The Lisbon City Council approved a contract with Blinks Brothers for construction of a new gazebo at the nature park. The previous gazebo was damaged during the derecho, and insurance is paying for the repairs.
Lisbon mayor Doug O’Connor questioned if there were additional contractors who had bid on the project, noting the number of projects Blinks is working on for the city not completed.
Lisbon public works director Travis Bagby said that the project is so small, it’s next to impossible to get someone in Cedar Rapids or Dubuque to bid.
Lisbon city administrator Brandon Siggins said he had hoped for more local bids, but Blinks was the only one who bid.
The city is hoping the item can get fixed by the end of the calendar year.
