Federico Polidori and Orion Mason came away as singles winners for the Rams, who moved to 5-9 on the year. Wartburg (16-7) tied its school record for wins in a season.
Polidori rallied at No. 2 singles for a 1-6, 7-6 (2), 10-2 victory over Jackson Eells, raising the sophomore’s season record to 9-3. Mason also beat his opponent in three sets by scores of 7-5, 3-6 and 10-2 at the No. 6 spot.
Cornell No. 1 player Alexander Hadler-Strumlauf had his seven-match winning streak snapped in a 6-3, 7-6 (5) loss to Lucas Huffman. Cornell’s Justin Mendez hung tough at No. 4 singles, falling 7-5, 7-6 (3).
Wartburg swept all three doubles matches. The closest match was at the No. 2 position, where Chris Penas-Hull and Mendez lost 8-4.
The Rams play host to Martin Luther March 31 for a 4 p.m. meet in Mount Vernon.
