Big’s BBQ and Brew Pub named as ”bucket-list barbecue” in IowaBig’s BBQ and Brew Pub was named as the “bucket-list barbecue in the state of Iowa from an article on Cheapist.com.
The article noted that “All the meats at Big’s BBQ are smoked with locally harvested cherry wood for a sweet flavor. You can grab the burnt ends, brisket, pork, and sausage by the pound, or something unique such as its “Iowa BBQ Pie” with Fritos, beans, and smoked meat. Top your selection with a raspberry sriracha or sweet mustard vinegar sauce.”

James Beard semifinalist
Aaron Hall of The Local Crumb was among the semifinalists for the James Beard award in the category of bakery in 2022.The Local Crumb’s breads and baked goods can be found at many local restaurants, as well as ordered from countless locals. Hall, an alum of Cornell College, got his start at Salt Fork Kitchen before starting his own bakery at First Street Community Center.
While he was a semifinalist, when the finalists were announced, The Local Crumb was not among those narrowed down for the final award in bakery goods.
