It is now our second month out of session. Here are a few highlights of what I have been up to:
• On July 21, I visited the University of Northern Iowa. I can’t thank UNI enough for their hospitality and for taking the time to show us their beautiful campus and facilities. university president Mark Nook and state relations officer Mary Braun went above and beyond to educate me on their vast opportunities to students in Iowa. Check out all that UNI has to offer by visiting their website, https://uni.edu
• This year for the Fourth of July, I participated in the Buchanan County parade. What a wonderful Fourth of July weekend in Independence, Iowa. Even better when you can spend it with great people under sunny skies. Thank you to the Buchanan County Republicans, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, state senator Craig Johnson, state representative Chad Ingels and his daughter, and all the folks who came out today. God bless Iowa and the United States of America.
• My wife, Stacy, and I enjoyed our time with the Alburnett Historical Society at The Brown Family Pioneer Days in Central City. It’s always fun to see the tractors, implements and demonstrations that showed how the job was done. It is such a great event every year.
• As the anniversary nears of the devastating derecho that hit Iowa on Aug. 10, the Iowa Insurance Division continues to hear that work is still under way and there is still more to do. Iowans that may need to ask for an extension are encouraged to speak directly with their agent and insurance company to determine if an extension is necessary to complete the repairs. If this request is denied, consumers may wish to file a complaint with the Iowa Insurance Division to allow for a review of the facts concerning the claim.
• On July 29, the Iowa Legislature lost a dear friend and dedicated public servant Representative John Landon of House District 37. He will be sorely missed by all, but he is now in a better place. Please join me in sending prayers to his wife and family.
Feel free to contact me with any comments or concerns regarding how I can best serve you as your Representative. As always, I look forward to another great month of representing the people of District 95.
