For Lisbon football, there were some diamonds to dig up during their 0-8 season.
The Lions had three players earn first-team all-district honors in Class 1A, District 5 for the 2025 season.
Senior offensive linemen Henry Reiling and Nathan Ahrendsen were voted by league coaches, as was offensive utility player Ryder Meeks, a junior.
“We tried to put as many guys up as possible,” Lisbon coach Alex Dean said. “The coaches around the district felt our guys were worthy of that honor.”
Dean said that Reiling and Ahrendsen were strong senior leaders.
“Nathan was one of the kids that welcomed me as a new coach,” Dean said. “He’s gone from tight end (as a freshman), and made the switch to line in the best interest of the team. He’s played tackle, then guard, and finished the season playing center.
“Henry is a quiet, reserved kid, but he’s a worker. He bring it every day.”
Meeks started the fall at quarterback, then moved to running back when a freshman brought up to play QB.
“He could’ve pitched a fit, but he just took a team-first attitude and locked in,” Dean said. “That impressed the coaches.”
Senior defensive lineman Nathan Brown was a second-team all-district pick, and senior Ian Whittenbaugh and sophomore Caleb Brown were honorable mention.
Caleb Brown played every spot along the D-line. Whittenbaugh boomed a big punt out of nowhere to earn that job in practice.
