Lisbon Library sets new operating hours
Lisbon Library has new hours, beginning Saturday, Nov. 1.
Those hours are:
Mondays and Wednesdays – 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.
Tuesdays and Fridays 1-5 p.m.
Thursdays 1-7 p.m.
Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
According to library director Elizabeth Hoover de Galvez, the shift in Wednesday hours allows the library to be open on early out days and share evening hours with Southeast Linn Community Center.
Mount Vernon Sculpture Trail celebration Nov. 1
The public is invited to celebrate new additions to the Mount Vernon Sculpture Trail in a brief ceremony at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1. The new additions include stone signage created by local artist Dave Rega and underwritten with a grant from Linn County; an archway by Mount Vernon sculptor Dale Merrill funded by residents Les & Katrina Garner; a piece financed by the City of Mount Vernon; and a dragonfly sculpture funded by the Iowa Arts Council/National Endowment for the Arts — facilitated by the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council (MVAAC) and the Sculpture Trail Committee.
Attendees are encouraged to park at First Street Community Center parking lot and proceed down the hill to the Sculpture Art Trail or at Nature Park and proceed to the art trail.
Book club meeting
A new book club will be meeting Sunday, Nov. 2, at Wren and Purl, beginning at 4 p.m. Come talk about the book “For Such A Time as This: An Emergency Devotional” by Hannah Reichel.
