Yarn Squad is celebrating 15 years. In 2010 Cole Library was approached by some patrons about starting a Knitting Night. Since several libraries in our area had a Knitting Night, we thought it would be a good idea to host one as well. We met once a month, helped people learn to knit, then expanded our knitting knowledge and circle of knitting friends. Seven years later, we had more than knitters – we had fiber enthusiasts – knitters, crocheters and needlework artists. They were all people crazy about yarn so we changed our name to Yarn Squad and our meeting time to every Tuesday at 6:30 – not just once a month.
So, after 15 years we have worked through hundreds of skeins of yarn, had 728 conversations about knitting, crocheting, and patterns, shared the triumph of finished items and the agony of ripping out a mistake – again. We are the Cole Library Yarn Squad. I hope you will bring your latest project and join us in Room 326 every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
