The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group (CDG) today announced that the 10th Annual Uptown Theatre Honors will take place Sunday, Nov. 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Uptown Theatre space at the First Street Community Center, 221 1st St. NE, Mount Vernon.
This year’s honorees will include Guy Booth, Linda Hakken, Rich Martin, David Osterberg and Shirley Ryan. The event is free, however donations will be accepted at the door. Performers this year include Craig Dove, Peter Fisher, Stephanie Hoklotubbe, Scott Humeston, Eddie Piccard, Reagan Slaymaker and Charlie Weldon.
“This year we have chosen to honor a piano teacher and organist, a trailblazing teacher/volleyball coach, a Cornell English Lit Professor/vibraphonist, a Main Street-based lawyer and uber volunteer, and a former Iowa State Representative,” said Mary Horst, Chair of the all-volunteer Uptown Theatre Honors Committee. “These honorees are your neighbors and friends, and all of them continue to go above and beyond every day to make a difference in the place we all call home.”
All are welcome to attend and honor these living legends thanks to the help and support of several Uptown Theatre Honors sponsors. No need to RSVP, just show up. The event will start and end with refreshments.
