The first big showdown for the Lisbon softball team didn’t go their way.
No. 3 (2A) Lisbon dropped a pair of close ones at No. 8 (1A) North Linn on Thursday, May 29.
The Lions lost 7-6 when the Lynx scored three in the bottom of the sixth inning, and lost 7-6 in eight innings, when North Linn walked it off.
“It was definitely a hard night,” Lisbon coach Abbey Shultz said. “I told the girls after the first game, you have to take care of things all the way through.
“It’ll be good fire and motivation for us to keep working hard. You have to show up every single inning.”
In the first game, Alexis Jensen had a triple, Addie Clark hit a double, and Clark, Kyla Kahl and Alexa Roos each had two hits.
In the second game, Jensen had two hits, including a triple. Emma Pleasant and Alexis Jensen each had two hits
Pleasant gave up seven runs, none of them earned. She struck out four and walked three.
The Lions swept Bellevue Marquette on Tuesday, May 27, winning 10-0 and 5-3.
In Game 1, Clark hit 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Kyla Kahl pitched a two-hitter, striking out nine and walking one over five innings.
In Game 2, Kyla Kahl came in with four no-hit innings in relief. Pleasant hit 3-for-3 with a double, triple and two RBI, and Kaitlynn Hasselbusch had two doubles.
“I was insanely proud of our team,” Shultz said. “The defense is doing its job and the bats eventually started coming around.”
