Savage steps down
Mount Vernon girls’ soccer coach Brandon Savage announced on social media that he was stepping down as coach.
The Mustangs finished 10-8 this past season, losing to Cedar Rapids Xavier in the Class 2A Regional semifinal round.
“It wasn’t an easy decision,” Savage wrote. “Everyone at Mount Vernon made it feel like a home away from home. I learned a lot and will carry on coaching in the future.”
Athletic director Matt Thede said they’d start looking for a replacement when school starts up in the fall.
