Bernard F. Tiedemann, 91, of Lisbon, died Saturday, June 22, 2024, after a good long life. A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, celebrated by Rev. Kenneth Glaser. Visitation was Wednesday, June 26, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services in Mount Vernon. Burial will take place following the services at St. John’s Cemetery in Lisbon.
Survivors include his sons, Kevin and Terry (Melissa) Tiedemann; grandchildren, Henry and Kate Tiedemann, Daniel (Cassandra) and Bradley (Mary) Angell-Tiedemann, and Emily, Timothy (Brittany) and Benjamin Tiedemann; several great grandchildren; nieces, JoAnn (David) Stoner and Kristen Tiedemann (Andy Campos); and many extended nieces, nephews and friends.
Bernard Frederick Tiedemann was born Nov. 15, 1932, in Stanwood, to Henry “Hank” and Marie (Boyle) Tiedemann. He grew up assisting his father running the Standard Oil service station until moving to Lisbon. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1950. He married Marilyn Hoffman June 20, 1953, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Lisbon. He worked as an inspector at Rockwell-Collins in Cedar Rapids, with a career highlighted by inspecting several parts associated with the Apollo Missions before retiring after 30 years.
He enjoyed spending time with his wife and friends each month in their camping club, working crossword puzzles, and watching/hearing about his grandchildren play baseball/softball.
Bernard was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Ann Tiedemann-Angell; son, Jeff Tiedemann; parents; and sister, Josephine Thomson; and brother, William Tiedemann.
The family will be directing all memorials to the American Heart Association.
