John and Jeanne Daubert, happily married for 62 years. Here are few words about the best of parents, the best of people.
My brothers and I, Bruce, the oldest, and Craig, the youngest, were raised Air Force brats as dad served for 27 years. During those years, dad was an Electronic Technician Engineer. Mom was an RN in pediatrics when she met dad. Mom loved working with the new born babies. She loved being part of the first day of the rest of their lives. Mom, who was always a full-time mom, also worked as an accountant for the water department by day and did the books for dad’s company, BMC Enterprises, on the weekends. (BMC stood for their 3 boys; Bruce, Mark, and Craig) BMC Enterprises was a startup that mom and dad grew into a pretty good-sized electronic components company.
After dad retired from the Air Force and the selling of BMC, they bought a large campground with 110 camp sites near Coos Bay in Oregon on 10 Mile Lake, rightfully named North Lake Resort and Marina. Mom enjoyed running the general store. There, she met and checked in all the campers and dad would lead them to their camp sites in his golf cart full of firewood. Dad always had a list of things to fix that mom had made up for him. Mom often found dad at the gas dock on the lake filling up the boaters as they headed out fishing. There, he also got to catch up on the big fish stories of the day, true or not. They both loved the friends they made from around the country as many campers returned to the park year after year. I think mom kept the post office open with all the correspondence from the campers. The next 15 years passed quickly, but eventually it became time to truly retire as the campground became a younger couple’s game.
Mom and dad retired in Yuma, Ariz. There, they made new friends of similar ages and who were also retired. A new beginning in another place they called home. They spent time playing shuffleboard, cards, and dominos for fun. Dad had a small shed where he often tinkered on electrical gadgets that the neighbors brought over to be fixed. Mom enjoyed taking walks and visiting the friends they had made there. Mom and dad loved spending time with our kids, their only grandkids; Tiffany, Tyler, and Alexis. Mom always said that she loved the kids like only a grandma can. In turn, they loved grandpa and grandma as only grandkids can.
Dad was born July 28, 1933, and passed 10 years ago this month, June 19, 2014, and now, mom has reunited with him. Mom was born November 16, 1930 and passed on June 14, 2024. They are once again at peace in each other’s arms. No more pains, no more distance, no more waiting. No more loneliness. Together again forever. As for me and my family, we rejoice in the unconditional love mom and dad gave us. We are grateful for the wisdom they taught us, and we pray we always honor their good name as long as we are here. Love you, mom and dad, miss you more than you know.
Mom and dad were survived by her children, Bruce Daubert, Mark (Wendy) Daubert, Craig Daubert; and grandchildren, Tiffany (Justin) Schulze, Tyler Daubert, Alexis Daubert.
