The Mount Vernon Community Band struck up the songs for the first Tuneful Tuesday event Tuesday, June 4.
Director Elise Rodenberg said if anyone is interested in joining the band for the remaining performances, the band practices Monday evenings at 7 p.m. at Mount Vernon High School and performs for the concerts every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Water was provided by the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group and Mount Vernon Bank and Trust provided free popcorn to attendees at the concerts. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to seat in Memorial Park for the concert on Tuesday evenings.
Songs played June 4 included “Over the Rainbow,” musical selections from “Les Miserables,” and “Mary Poppins” and some marching songs.
