Brandy Zumbach Meisheid was in attendance for Chocolate Stroll Saturday, June 1, and to drum up support for the primary election.
Meisheid was running uncontested for the Republican nomination for the Linn County Board of Supervisors District 3 seat. She will be competing against Molly Donahue in the general election this spring in that race.
Meisheid said she was happy to come to the festival and support the small businesses in uptown Mount Vernon. She was also a volunteer and in attendance at Chalk the Walk in May at Mount Vernon.
“I’m just excited to get to know more of the people in these small towns that I’d be representing on the board of supervisors,” Meisheid said.
Meisheid said she loves the small town values of the community, and is running as a fiscally conservative candidate for the board of supervisors.
She was at the festival with her son, Weston, who was much more interested in all things chocolate.
Meisheid was born and raised in Coggon, and is living on the same family farm where her father grew up. According to her website, she graduated from North Linn High School and received a bachelor of arts from Buena Vista University.
She has served with AmeriCorps, as well as coached high school basketball. She also volunteers with the Linn county Fair Association and on the Walker Pickle Days committee. She’s also vice chair on the Linn County Board of Adjustment. She also serves as director of development for Buena Vista University.
“I want to bring my passion for people, community service, and dedication to making sure all voices are heard to the office of Supervisor,” Meisheid said.
