Audrey Ann Buchmeyer, passed away quietly in the early morning of May 26, 2024, at her home in Lisbon, Iowa. Born June 14, 1943. A Celebration of Life will be held on her 81st birthday, from 4-7 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2024, Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon.
Audrey was born June 14, 1943, in Iowa City, raised in Stanwood, and was a longtime resident in the Mount Vernon-Lisbon area. She was the daughter of Paul and Linda Cantrell (née Hayes).
Audrey proudly worked for Sheller Globe/United Technologies in Iowa City for 33 years and was a valued coworker to many. Audrey had opened her home to many over the years and had a sensitivity to helping those in need. She enjoyed cooking, most of all making cakes for special occasions, and especially weddings. During her retirement she spent many hours volunteering for Meals on Wheels and driving seniors to their needed activities. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, playing pinochle, sewing and crocheting.
Audrey is survived by her brother, Don (Melissa) Cantrell; children, Joan Buchmeyer (Stuart Weinbrenner), Andrew (Gretchen) Buchmeyer, Janet (Paul) Gagne, Joy (Blake) Howe, and Steven (Elizabeth) Buchmeyer; grandchildren, Joseph (Heather), Jonathan (Rose), Abigail, Jackson, Renee, Rachelle (Dakota), Blake Jr., Marcella (Henry), Amy, Samuel (Amber), Anna, Bethany, and Elijah; great-grandchildren, Mason, Winter, Paige, Falynn, Farrah, Cash, Rebecca, Haylee, Hayden, Kenith, Hugh, Devin, Makayla, and Daniel; and further survived by many people who were touched by her kindness and so dear to her that they called her Mom and G-ma.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother James Cantrell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mount Vernon/Lisbon Ambulance or to the family in care of Audrey.
