The Mount Vernon boys’ golf team finished four strokes shy of advancing to districts when they competed in their Class 3A sectional on Wednesday, May 8, at Mount Pleasant Golf and Country Club.
The Mustangs finished with a 323, four shots short of second-place Albia (319). Washington won with a 302 card.
Washington’s Roman Roth, the 3A individual champion last spring, was meet medalist with a 69.
The Mustangs were led by Stratton Ellyson with a 78.
On Monday, May 6, the Mustangs finished 10th at the WaMaC Super Meet at Wildcat Golf Course in Shellsburg. Joey Rhomberg had the low round for the Mustangs with an 82.
