The cast has been chosen and rehearsals have begun for MVLCT’s summer show, Perfect Arrangement by Topher Payne. The play revolves around two couples who live in adjacent apartments in Georgetown near the nation’s capital. Bob and Millie are married and Jim and Norma are married, but in private, Jim and Bob are a couple and Millie and Norma are a couple. The situation is especially complicated by the fact that it is 1950 and Bob and Norma work for the government during what is known as the Lavender Scare; they are in danger of losing their jobs if their arrangement is found out.
Included in the cast are Tina Conroy, Larry Hansen, Braden JP Rood and John Zbanek Hill of Mount Vernon and Kerry Covington, Emily Irwin, and Josh Sterrett of Cedar Rapids. Katie Starks of Cedar Rapids is directing. The production will be June 21-23 and June 28-29 in the Uptown Theatre at the First Street Community Center in Mount Vernon. Tickets are available at www.mvlct.com.
