Mount Vernon boys’ soccer started the week with an 8-0 win at Cedar Valley Christian on Monday, April 29.
Goals were scored by Jakob Yock, Tristin Nosbisch, Oliver Hinrichs, Klayten Perreault, Lukas Schrock, Gavin Plathe and Carter Gadberry (2). Assists by Perreault and Jonathan Winkler.
On Tuesday, April 30, Mount Vernon beat Grinnell, 3-2, at Armstrong Field.

Tristin Nosbisch was in goal and made nine saves.
“Two solid wins,” Mount Vernon coach Nathan Grosse said. “On the road at CVC, which can present a challenge based on the field size and condition, the team found a way to move the ball well, create good chances and put them away early.”
No. 5 Williamsburg then beat Mount Vernon, 2-1, on Thursday, May 2, in Williamsburg. The Mustangs fell to 6-8.
“The team really put Williamsburg under heavy pressure for most of the second half,” Grosse said. “But we couldn’t find the end product and Williamsburg was able to sneak away on a couple of fluke goals.”
