Mount Vernon student journalists were recently awarded by the Iowa High School Press Association awards for their journalism work this past school year.
Advisor JoAnn Gage said students are also eligible for the All-Iowa News Team of the Year award, which will be distributed in the fall. Mount Vernon last won that prize in 2020, but has been a finalist every year since.
“I’m thankful to IHSPA for recognizing student work,” Gage said. “I am continually in awe of the dedicated, talented students who post photos and stories to our website, www.themustangmoon.com. They are at almost every home event capturing and showcasing what their peers achieve on the field, court, stage, or classroom.”
Schools are designated for the All-Iowa News team based on the number of awards the school has in the spring contests.
